BACKGROUND

PULL was started in 2006 with the inspiration and vision of Senator Geo-Karis. Senator Geo-Karis was an immigrant from Greece and wanted the disadvantaged to have hope, opportunity and a fair chance to get an education. PULL is designed with the idea that people should give back to their community. Many including the founding members of PULL were helped through organizations as this. OUR GOAL IS TO RELIVE THIS PROCESS AND ASSIST OTHERS THAT WISH TO FURTHER THEIR HIGHER EDUCATION.

BIGRAPHY

Fernando Salazar is the founder of PULL and has been a lifelong community activist and advocate. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Illinois in 1983. He has worked in the public arena for over 35 years and has assisted in many civic awareness programs, community involvement programs and voter registration drives. His past includes being an Outreach Coordinator for a major Political Party in Lake County. His professional experience includes being a Park District Supervisor, an EEO Investigator and a Labor Relations Specialist for the State of Illinois. He was also a longtime aide to the admired and past Senator Geo-Karis. He was also elected as an alternate delegate for President Bush in 2004 while still holding onto independent ideas and expanding the voter base in Lake County.

Dr. Luis Salazar is the founder and Medical Director of Provida Health Center. Dr. Salazar received his medical degree from the University of Illinois and completed his residency in Family Practice at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago, where he obtained additional training in the fields of internal medicine, psychiatry & psychology, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, community and adolescent medicine. He has practiced immediate care medicine and has been on the staff of Lake County Health Department. Dr. Salazar is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, he is elected into the American Academy of Family Physicians, and has been an active member of the American Medical Association and a delegate to the State Medical Society and the Lake County Medical Society. He is an assistant clinical professor at Chicago Medical School.

Dr. Salazar is on staff at Condell Medical Center.

Joseph W. Sbarboro is the founder of Arbor, Inc. located in Grayslake, Illinois. He received his degree in engineering from the University of Illinois. He is a certified paralegal of Illinois. He has been a longtime aide, consultant and advocate to many programs that promote fairness and justice. He is constantly seeking reform at all levels of government. He is using his education, job skills, and knowledge to assist others in the community that do not have the means to assist themselves.

PLAN

PULL’s goal is to award scholarships to the less advantaged in the county. The candidates must show leadership, academic promise and assist in Community Outreach. The candidate also must demonstrate how furthering their education would be beneficial to their community on a long term basis. The candidate must show academic excellence and community involvement to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded after one displays in composition form why they should be awarded a scholarship. Their biography, future plans and how one will give back to the community will determine if one is awarded a scholarship.

ECONOMIC PLAN

PULL is very fortunate in that it is in one of the most wealthy county’s in the world. PULL wishes to rely on the generosity of others to reach their long term goals. PULL also is asking Corporate America to assist in educating the deserving and less fortunate in Lake County. PULL will also do ongoing voter registration drives with the goal of getting all qualified registered to vote. PULL will also encourage new, satisfied, dissatisfied and disenfranchised voters to go to the polls for EACH election.

PULL is to work on community and Corporate Sponsorships with the hopes that students will persue their career goals that will aid their sponsor in their long term plans. PULL will also ask all bodies of government and corporate America to be included as a charity each employee may contribute to each payday. PULL will also work with all religious groups to be included as a worthy charity and asking for support. The charity’s goal is to make the community better as a whole.

 PULL’S FUTURE GOALS

PULL’S long term goal is have a permanent site in Lake County. PULL is in the process getting a site donated in Lake County. PULL wishes to have a permanent office to make the goals more visible to the public. PULL is aggressively seeking further opportunities to have a site more realistic.
